THE UNDERTOW

Something happens to Love when lovers vacation together. The high excitement that occurs when everything about you is strange and new can often provide a special connection. This was written near the end of a romantic cruise.

THE KISS

Lips communicate love best when words are few and kisses are many. And when that kiss is able to convey feelings that have no words, you know you have touched one of the answers to life.

DARKER THAN YOU

Love comes in many colourful shades, yet there are also dark undertones within love. I speak not of lust nor jealousy, but of having darker reflections on life that strain the concept of mutual harmony.

WASHING LIFE OVER DEATH

Love is a garden that requires a steady use of green thumbs by both partners. Love is not a hobby for one, that the other gets to casually enjoy through mild participation. It must be a labour of love for both.

ROCK AND ROLL CHICKEN HOUDINI

Love has a way of bringing the absurd into focus. Love can place music within silence, and magic within the mundane. And love can make words dance upon a page like they never have before.

HAPPINESS

When the blues blow in, it's sometimes hard to convince your partner that it takes both time and love to bring on the healing. This is a blues song, written knowing my partner will patiently wait, just around the corner......

Squeegee kids are a social phenomenon that have surfaced in most urban centers. The quick, subtle communication that occurs between drivers and tip-searching youth makes for an interesting poem.
